Johannes Tanner (born May 11, 1627 in Herisau ; † before 1671 ; entitled to live in Herisau) was a Swiss Landammann and delegate from the Canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Johannes Tanner was a son of Johannes Tanner and brother of Laurenz Tanner . In 1646 he married Elisabeth Wolf, daughter of Hans Rudolf Wolf, guild master for Safran in Zurich and governor of the county of Kyburg . From 1652 to 1659 he held the office of mayor of Herisau. From 1658 to 1662 he was the delegate of the Diet five times. From 1660 to 1665 he officiated as Ausserrhoder Landammann. Between 1650 and 1652, Tanner campaigned for the construction of a single church in Wolfhalden, like his father, in the dispute over church building in the Kurzenberg community . In 1652 he was delegated by the authorities to build the church. He campaigned for the continued existence of the community. In 1664 Tanner acted as a mediator of the evangelical places in the dispute between the prince abbot of St. Gallen and the reformed Toggenburg .
