Johannes Vogel (* 1967 in Vienna ) is an Austrian musician and composer .

Life

Johannes Vogel was born in Vienna. Study of concert percussion instruments at the University of Music in Vienna with a final diploma with distinction. Engagement as a drummer in the stage orchestra of the Austrian federal theaters, then as a solo timpanist in the orchestra of the Vienna Volksoper.

Participation in numerous orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, Vienna State Opera, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Mahler Festival Orchestra Kassel, Graz Opera House, Camerata Academica Salzburg, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Austro-Hungarian Haydn Philharmonic, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble Kontrapunkte.

Guest engagements in the orchestra of the Zurich Opera and in the Bavarian State Opera. Collaboration with Claudio Abbado , Bernard Haitink , Lorin Maazel , Christoph von Dohnányi , Riccardo Muti , Michael Gielen , Nikolaus Harnoncourt , Thomas Hengelbrock , Christopher Hogwood , Ádám Fischer , James Levine , André Previn , Franz Welser-Möst , Carlo Maria Giulini , Giuseppe Sinopoli , Seiji Ozawa , Pierre Boulez , Georg Solti , Leonard Bernstein , Carlos Kleiber .

Today he works mainly as a composer, producer and conductor of music for radio, television and film. In addition to his own scores, he also conducted for B. Hans Zimmer, Harry Gregson Williams and many others. He works closely with the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra in Bratislava and the Synchron Stage Vienna.

Johannes Vogel works closely with film music composer Fernando Velázquez . Joint works include "Mama", "Mariah Mundi" and "The Impossible".

For the ORF he composed and produced the music layout for the “election reporting”, the discussion program “Im Zentrum”, the magazine “Thema” and the theme music for the “Stadlshow”. Johannes Vogel worked as a composer and music producer for the MGM / Paramount production "Hercules" (summer 2014) with Dwayne Johnson and John Hurt. In 2015 he worked on the Legendary / Universal production “Crimson Peak” by director Guillermo del Toro and composed the music for the 9th season of Der Bergdoktor together with Dirk Leupolz . The 10th season (starting at Christmas 2016) will again be penned by these composers. At the internationally renowned Kalat Nissa Film Festival in Italy, Johannes Vogel and Fernando Velazquez won the “Best Music for a Short Film 2016” award for the score for the science fiction film Ceniso .

His compositional work moved in different musical styles from jazz to avant-garde in classical concert business. Commissioned compositions were created for Bogdan Bacanu. He was also a composer and producer of music for radio and television.
