Johannes Wolf (politician, 1885)

Johannes Wolf (born December 5, 1885 in Maikammer , † June 18, 1961 in Königsbach an der Weinstrasse ) was a German winemaker and politician ( BVP , later CDU ).

Life

After attending elementary school and graduating from high school in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse , Wolf completed a degree in economics and political science . His doctorate took place at the University of Bonn . From 1911 he was the owner of the "Hildenbrandseck" winery in Maikammer, which his wife brought into the marriage and which they managed in the following years.

In addition to his professional activity, Wolf was involved in agricultural associations. After 1947 he was president of the winegrowing association for the Rhine Palatinate, member of the board of the German winegrowing association , vice-president of the Palatinate farmers and winemakers and member of the board of the Palatinate Chamber of Agriculture. He also acted as chairman of the Raiffeisenkasse in Maikammer.

Before 1933 Wolf was a member of the Bavarian People's Party (BVP). During the Weimar Republic he was councilor in Maikammer and served as mayor of the community on a voluntary basis. From 1920 to 1933 he was chairman of the Landau District Assembly and from 1932 to 1933 a member of the Palatinate District Assembly.

After 1945, Wolf joined the CDU. In the state elections in 1951 and 1955 , he was elected as a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament, to which he was a member until 1959. In Parliament he was from 1951 to 1959 a member of the Viticulture and Wine Industry Committee and from 1951 to 1955 a member of the Main Committee, the Budget and Finance Committee and the Economic and Reconstruction Committee.

In July 1954 he was a member of the 2nd Federal Assembly for the election of the Federal President.

He had been a member of the Catholic student union KDStV Hercynia Freiburg im Breisgau since 1906 and later joined the KDStV Bavaria Bonn .
