particularities | Luisenturm ( AT ) |
The Johannisegge is 291 m above sea level. NHN high mountain in the Teutoburg Forest , Gütersloh district , North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ). It is located in the middle part of the mountain range only about 1 km northwest of Borgholzhausen .
The Johannisegge must not be confused with the Johannisberg of the Teutoburg Forest, which is located a good 18 km southeast in Bielefeld .
The Johannisegge lies on the Weser-Ems watershed : all flowing waters that arise on the north-eastern slope of the mountain flow into the Weser at some point . The brooks that arise on its southwest slope sooner or later flow into the Ems .
Luisenturm
On its summit, over which the Hermannsweg leads, stands the 21 m high Luisenturm , meanwhile the fourth observation tower that was built there (height without antenna 19.5 m). From its 16 m high viewing platform , when the weather is nice, you can see not only over the Teutoburg Forest, but also in a northerly direction over the Ravensberger Land up to the Wiehen Mountains . In the other direction you can see the Münsterland and thus the large Westphalian Bay . You can see Borgholzhausen down in the valley very closely.
