John Robert Albrechtson (born July 22, 1936 in Gothenburg , † August 27, 1985 there ) was a Swedish sailor .
successes
John Albrechtson took part in the Olympic Games three times . In 1968 he finished ninth in the Star Boat in Mexico City on his Olympic debut with Ulf Norrman . In the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and 1976 in Montreal , he started with Ingvar Hansson in the boat class Tempest . In 1972 they just missed winning a medal in fourth place, before they were both Olympic champions four years laterwere. With three wins in seven races and a total of only 14 points, they won the regatta by a large margin over the Soviet and US boats. In 1966 in Kiel , Albrechtson became world champion as Paul Elvstrøm's bow in the starboat and also secured the bronze medal in Puget Sound in 1971 . At Tempest he won silver in Association Iceland in 1975 , before he and Hansson won the title in both Stromstad in 1977 and in Castelletto in 1978 . They were also able to win the title at the European Championships.
