John Alphonsus Ryan

John Alphonsus Ryan SPS (born February 27, 1952 in Tipperary , Ireland ) is an Irish religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Mzuzu in Malawi .

Life

John Alphonsus Ryan joined the St. Patrick's Society for Foreign Missions in and received on 18 June 1978, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On April 26, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Mzuzu. The bishop of Karonga , Martin Anwel Mtumbuka , ordained him episcopal on August 27 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Lilongwe , Tarcisius Gervazio Ziyaye , and the Archbishop of Blantyre , Thomas Luke Msusa SMM .
