John Bernard Kevenhoerster OSB (born November 1, 1869 in Essen , † December 9, 1949 in Nassau ) was Vicar Apostolic of the Bahamas .

Life

John Bernard Kevenhoerster joined the Benedictine order , made his profession on July 25, 1892 and was ordained a priest on June 24, 1896 . Pius XI. appointed him on May 22, 1931 prefect of the Bahamas . The Pope made him titular bishop of Camuliana on October 27, 1933 .

The Archbishop of New York , Patrick Joseph Cardinal Hayes , donated him the episcopal ordination on December 21 of the same year; Co- consecrators were John Gregory Murray , Archbishop of Saint Paul , and Joseph Francis Busch , Bishop of Saint Cloud .

With the elevation to the Apostolic Vicariate on January 15, 1941 he was appointed Apostolic Vicar of the Bahamas.
