John Dähmcke

John Dähmcke ([joːn]), also Johann (born November 21, 1887 in Ottensen , † March 31, 1969 in Berlin ) was a German painter, graphic artist and illustrator.

Live and act

Dähmcke studied from 1907 to 1910 at the art school in Breslau and then with Lothar von Kunowski at the state drawing teacher seminar in Düsseldorf ( Düsseldorf School of Applied Arts ).

Later he had a studio in Berlin, where he mainly worked as a portrait painter. Since the 1930s he has also illustrated books and created title pages. After 1945 he worked as an illustrator for the Aufbau-Verlag . From 1946 to 1980 he was a member of the professional association of visual artists in Berlin.
