John Edwards (* 1964 ) is an English bassist of free jazz and European improvisation music .

Live and act

After Edwards started playing bass in 1987, he formed The Pointy Birds , who produced music for dance troupes such as The Cholmodeleys and The Featherstonehaughs . In 1990 he appeared for the first time with musicians such as Roger Turner , Lol Coxhill , Maggie Nichols and Phil Minton . Between 1990 and 1995 Edwards was a member of several formations, such as the band God , B Shops for the Poor and The Honkies . He was also a regular accompanist to London's improvised music scene, had his first solo appearances and worked in duo formation (bass / cello) in The Great Explorers . John Edwards has been one of the most active musicians on the London scene since 1995 and plays between 150 and 200 gigs over the course of a year. He was a fellow musician of Evan Parker in various formations and also worked with Tony Bevan , Jon Lloyd , Veryan Weston and Elton Dean , also played with Michel Doneda , Paul Dunmall , Gerd Dudek , Hans Koch , Sunny Murray , the London Improvisers Orchestra , Michel Waisvisz and John Butcher and in a duet with percussionist Mark Sanders ( Nisus Duets , 2002). With Paul Lovens and the trombonist Paul Hubweber he forms the Trio PaPaJo .
