John Groves (born August 9, 1953 in Hamburg ) is a composer , music producer for advertising and communication and consultant in the field of acoustic branding .

biography

John Groves was born on August 9, 1953 to British parents in Hamburg and grew up in Slough , England. In the late 1970s he moved to Sweden, where he made his first experiences in the field of music production for advertising. In 1983 he moved to Hamburg and founded GROVES Sound Communications . In 1985 Groves advised WDR and NDR and developed sound identities for each. In 1988 he developed acoustic branding for DEA . He is president of the (CC) Composers Club eV

John Groves has been active in music production for advertising since the 1980s. In addition to orchestral works for Berliner Kindl and the 25th anniversary of the Audi Quattro , he wrote advertising melodies for brands such as DEA , VISA , Bacardi , bonprix Mentos , Melitta , Bitburger and Wrigley’s .

Acoustic brand management

Groves has been involved in the strategic development of acoustic brand identities since the 1990s. He develops and realizes sound identities for EnBW , LBS , Winterthur Versicherung , Austrian Airlines and koelnmesse . Workshops and consultations were carried out for Mercedes-Benz , T-Com and Volksbank Raiffeisenbank , among others .

Lectures

John Groves is a regular lecturer at Texterschmiede , the Miami Ad School and at various universities and (technical) colleges in Germany and Europe.

In 2003 he produced a CD with the Camerata Orchestra in Megaron in the Athens Concert Hall, on which Vicky Leandros sings music by Mikis Theodorakis.

In 1996, Heard it all before , a song written by Groves that Al Jarreau sings at a gala event hosted by Sir Peter Ustinov , was released. In the same year Groves wrote the musical "Edgerounder".
