John Hughes III (* 27. April 1989 in Columbus , Ohio ) is a former American American football poker players. He last played with the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League (NFL) on the position of defensive tackle .

college

Hughes attended the University of Cincinnati and played for their team, the Bearcats, successfully college football from 2008 to 2011 , not only being able to set 141 tackles , but also getting 9 sacks .

NFL

Cleveland Browns

In the 2012 NFL Draft , he was selected in the third round as a total of 87th by the Cleveland Browns . In his rookie season he was already used in all games, twice as a starter . In the following seasons he was also an integral part of the Browns' offensive line, only in 2014 he was put on the injured reserve list because of a knee injury and could only play five games. In 2016 he was surprisingly sacked by the Browns after just one game.

New England Patriots

Hughes was signed by the New England Patriots shortly thereafter , but was released just days later without having played a game.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Hughes was signed after a few days by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , who had to play several defensive linemen due to injury. In a total of five games for the Bucs, he was able to set six tackles.

New Orleans Saints

In August 2017, the New Orleans Saints signed him, but Hughes did not make it into the team and was released shortly before the start of the regular season . On October 4, 2017, he was signed again, played a game for the Saints, but was released on November 6, only to be re-signed two days later.

Buffalo Bills

In July Hughes moved to the Buffalo Bills , but a few days before the start of the regular season he was released due to injury.
