John J. Jenik (born March 7, 1944 in New York City , USA ) is an American clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in New York .

Life

Jenik studied at St. Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers and Fordham University . He received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of New York on May 30, 1970 .

Jenik has served as a pastor in various parishes in the Bronx . From 2006 he was regional vicar for the Northwest Bronx. Pope John Paul II made him an Honorary Papal Prelate in 1995 .

On 14 June 2014 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Druas and auxiliary bishop in New York. The episcopal ordination donated it and the same time appointed Auxiliary Bishops John O'Hara and Peter Byrne , the archbishop of New York, Timothy Cardinal Dolan , the same year on August 4. Co-consecrators were the New York Auxiliary Bishops Dominick John Lagonegro and Gerald Thomas Walsh .

On October 31, 2018, Cardinal Dolan published the suspicion of abuse raised against Jenik , which is described as credible but is denied by Jenik. Jenik refrains from public appearances because of the incident decades ago.

On October 10, 2019, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
