Peter Byrne (born July 24, 1951 in New York City , USA ) is auxiliary bishop in New York .

Life

Byrne entered St. Joseph's Seminary in Yonkers . He interrupted his priestly training and worked as a teacher from 1977 to 1983. At the same time he studied at Fordham University , where he earned a bachelor's degree in history and social science in 1983. In the same year he returned to the seminary and received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of New York on December 1, 1984 .

Peter Byrne has served in parish ministry in the Bronx and Staten Island . Since 2013 he has been a pastor in Manhattan .

On June 14, 2014 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Cluain Iraird and auxiliary bishop in New York. The episcopal ordination donated it and the same time appointed Auxiliary Bishops John O'Hara and John Jenik the Archbishop of New York, Timothy Cardinal Dolan , on 4 August of the same year. Co-consecrators were the New York Auxiliary Bishops Dominick John Lagonegro and Gerald Thomas Walsh .
