John Joseph Gerry

John Joseph Gerry (born June 1, 1927 in Brisbane- Rosalie, † December 13, 2017 in Brisbane) was an Australian clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Brisbane .

Life

The Cardinal Prefect of the Congregatio de Propaganda Fide , Pietro Cardinal Fumasoni Biondi , ordained him on July 9, 1950 as a priest of the Archdiocese of Brisbane.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on June 5, 1975 auxiliary bishop in Brisbane and titular bishop of Lugmad . The Archbishop of Brisbane, Francis Roberts Rush , donated him episcopal ordination on July 29 of that year ; Co- consecrators were Thomas Francis Little , Archbishop of Melbourne , and Bernard Joseph Wallace , Bishop of Rockhampton .

On February 11, 2003, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. Gerry died after a short illness in Holy Spirit Hospital in Brisbane.
