John King (born August 30, 1963 in Dorchester , Massachusetts ) is an American journalist . For the broadcaster CNN he hosted the talk show State of the Union and the news show John King, USA . Since 2005, King has been the senior national affairs correspondent for CNN. He is also the host of the program Insider Politics .

Life

King has Irish roots. He attended Boston Latin School and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Rhode Island . John King married his first wife, Jean Makie, and became the father of Noah and Hannah King. On May 25, 2008, King married his second wife, CNN news anchor Dana Bash . Before that, the King, who had been a Roman Catholic believer, converted to Judaism , the denomination of Bash. Bash and King were parents to son Jonah in June 2011. The marriage to Dana Bash was divorced in 2012.

Career

From 1985, King worked as an editor for the Associated Press . In 1991, King was appointed senior political correspondent, as a result of which he covered the US presidential campaigns in 1992 and 1996 in a leading position .

In 1997, King joined CNN , where he was a White House correspondent between 1999 and 2005 . He has been CNN's senior national affairs correspondent since 2005.
