John Miner (born August 28, 1965 in Moose Jaw , Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Edmonton Oilers in the National Hockey League , as well as the Kölner Haie and the Augsburger Panther in of the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
John Miner began his career as a hockey player with the Regina Pats , for which he was active in the Western Hockey League from 1981 to 1985 . During this period he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1983 in the eleventh round as a total of 220 players by the Edmonton Oilers . Initially, however, the defender played for two years exclusively for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Nova Scotia Oilers , before he made his debut in the National Hockey League for Edmonton in the 1987/88 season , where he scored five points in 14 games, including two goals, scored. Although the Oilers won the Stanley Cup this season , the right-handed shooter did not play enough games so that his name was not engraved on the cup. After the season he was given to the Los Angeles Kings . He moved to Austria and played for the Vienna EV and after the end of the season in Europe for the Kings AHL farm team, the New Haven Nighthawks . A season later he played for Lausanne HC in the Swiss National League B and played again for the New Haven Nighthawks after the end of the season. A job in the NHL with the Kings was not granted to him.
Miner definitely turned his back on North America and moved back to Austria to EK Zell am See , for which he competed in the Austrian Ice Hockey League from 1991 to 1993 . Then he moved back to the Swiss National League B. First he played for HC Ajoie and then for HC Martigny , before he was signed by EV Zug from the Swiss National League A in the summer of 1995 , with which he was in the 1997/98 season Master became. He was then signed by the Kölner Haie , for which he was on the ice in the DEL for the following four years , where he was German champion with the Haie in the 2001/02 season .
