John Saw Gawdy

John Saw Gawdy (born October 21, 1955 in Domapholi ) is a Myanmar Roman Catholic clergyman and appointed coadjutor bishop of Taungngu .

Life

John Saw Gawdy studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the seminary in Rangoon . He received on 9 April 1983, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

After his ordination, John Saw Gawdy initially worked as director of the catechetical center in Leiktho before teaching philosophy at the seminary in Pyin U Lwin from 1984 . In 1990, Saw Gawdy was sent to the United States for further studies , where he received a Masters in Biblical Theology at the Josephinum Pontifical College in 1993 . After returning to his homeland, he became a pastor in Leiktho. From 1997 to 2007 John Saw Gawdy Regens was the Minor Seminary in Leiktho before becoming Vicar General of the Taungngu Diocese. As of 2017, Saw Gawdy taught at the interdiocesan seminary in Loi-kaw . He was also a member of the college of consultors and the priestly council of the Taungngu diocese.

On June 29, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Coadjutor Bishop of Taungngu.
