John Treleaven

John Treleaven (born 1950 in Cornwall ) is an English opera singer ( tenor ).

Career

Treleaven studied singing in London - with William Lloyd Webber among others - and had his voice trained in Naples. His first appearance as a soloist took place in 1979 at the Covent Garden Opera . He made guest appearances in all the major British opera houses, but then moved to Germany. There he made his debut at the Mannheim National Theater and with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra . He then made guest appearances in Australia and the United States. During 2004 and 2005 he sang Siegfried im Ring des Nibelungen by Richard Wagner at the Finnish National Opera . In 2006 Treleaven sang in Richard Strauss ' Die Frau ohne Schatten den Kaiser at the Finnish National Opera .

Treleaven made his debut in Amsterdam under Simon Rattle in the role of Tristan in Richard Wagner's Tristan und Isolde . He sang this role many times in various opera houses, such as the Hamburg State Opera , the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona , Oper Frankfurt , at the Brisbane Festival , at the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi in Trieste, the Teatro Regio Turin , in Santiago de Chile . He also stepped in for the role in a concert in Montreal and sang it at the Lucerne Festival under Claudio Abbado , and with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Donald Runnicles in London . He also played Tristan at the Munich Opera Festival in 2006 and 2007.

Treleaven has appeared in more than a dozen film roles since 1998.
