Johntá Austin (born June 28, 1980 in Atlanta , Georgia ) is an American songwriter , arranger , producer and singer .

Career

Johntá Austin made his first significant steps in the music industry on the album Release Some Tension of SMV . He celebrated his first major success in 1998 when the song Sweet Lady by Tyrese , which he wrote, made it into the top ten of the US charts .

In 2004 he experienced his most successful year to date, when he worked with Mary J. Blige on Be Without You and with Mariah Carey on We Belong Together . For his songwriting on both songs, he was awarded the Grammy Award for Best R&B Song . He was also heavily involved in Janet Jackson's longplayer 20 YO .

He then received a recording contract as a solo artist with So So Def , the label of Jermaine Dupri . He subsequently released several singles , of which only Turn It Up and The One That Got Away received some attention with placements in the "Hot R & B / Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks", a genre-specific hit parade from Billboard magazine . Nevertheless, Austin's debut album Ocean Drive was finally released , which, however, did not gain commercial importance.

Then he worked more in the background again and worked mainly as a composer for other performers.
