Jon Landau (born July 23, 1960 in New York City , New York ) is an American film producer . He is COO of Lightstorm Entertainment .

Life

Jon Landau is one of three children of television producers Ely and Edie Landau . His sister is the playwright and theater director Tina Landau . He has two half-brothers, including the television director Les Landau .

After growing up in New York, Jon Landau moved to California with his family during high school. After graduating from the University of Southern California in 1983, Landau initially worked as a post-production manager before being involved in the production of a film with Campus Man for the first time in 1987 . He then co-produced the films Dick Tracy and Liebling, I've Shrunk the Children , and eventually became Vice President of Feature Productions at 20th Century Fox , where he began working with James Cameron . During this time he supervised the production of several films until he produced the first film with Cameron, Titanic (1997), and was also awarded an Oscar with him. In 2000, Landau merged his production company Blue Horizon with Cameron's production company Lightstorm Entertainment , where he took on the role of COO.

This film was followed by Solaris (2002) and finally Avatar (2009), in which Landau was involved as a producer. His next projects as a producer will be the film adaptation of the Japanese manga Battle Angel Alita and the sequels Avatar 2 to Avatar 5 .
