Jonas Projer (born August 28, 1981 in Zurich ) is a Swiss journalist and television presenter . In Switzerland he was known as the EU - correspondent in Brussels for the Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) and as moderator of the political talk show arena .

education

From 2000 to 2003 Jonas Projer studied English, film and German at the University of Zurich . In 2003 he started the four-year film course at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdk), which he finished in 2007. During his studies he went to the USA for a year abroad in 2005 and 2006 and studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York.

In 2001 Projer accepted an internship at Zoom magazine . In the same year he became a film journalist for the newspaper Der Landbote and published a weekly university film newspaper. From 2002 to 2007 he worked for Swiss radio and television for the subtitling of the television programs 10vor10 , Schweiz aktuell and Tagesschau , in 2006 he worked as a production assistant for Schweiz aktuell and this year completed an internship with Tilman Lingner , the then Washington, DC correspondent from SRF. From 2007 Projer worked as a film journalist for the Basler Zeitung and the film service , and from 2011 he reported on EU issues as a correspondent for Swiss television in Brussels .

From autumn 2014 to spring 2019, Projer moderated the political discussion program Arena and from June 2017 also moderated the show Arena / Reporter with Christa Rigozzi on SRF 1 . The arena has been accused of setting a one-sided theme on various occasions since it was headed by Projer. In February 2019 it was announced that Projer will leave the SRF. The last Arena broadcast with Projer was on April 26, 2019, followed by Sandro Brotz as arena presenter. Projer has been working for the Blick Group since May 1, 2019 to manage the Blick TV project , which went online on February 17, 2020 .

Private

Projer is married and has five children, three sons and twin daughters.
