Jordi Truxa

Jordi Truxa , until his marriage in 2009 Jordi Regel , (* 1973 in Berlin - Lichtenberg ) is a German coin designer and product designer . Truxa is the designer of four German euro commemorative coins and a regular participant in competitions for coin designers.

Career

Truxa is the son of a printer and a graphic artist , the painter Josep Renau was his grandfather. After finishing school in 1990, he learned the profession of relief engraver at the State Mint in Berlin , graduating with distinction. After High School on the second-chance education and the master craftsman , he studied product design at the Art Academy Berlin . Since his diploma in 2003 he has been working as a product designer, currently in Berlin. He married in 2009, gave up his maiden name Regel and has been using his current surname Truxa ever since.

Work in coin design

Truxa, at that time still under the name Jordi Regel, took part in competitions to design German coins during his studies. Even before he graduated, he was awarded the contract to design the ten euro commemorative coin “50 Years of German Television”; the unusual design of the coin was also rejected by the population. In 2006 Truxa designed the German commemorative coin for the 250th birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , still under his birth name Regel ; in the same year he took third place in the competition to design the coin to mark the 50th anniversary of the Bundesbank. In 2011 and 2012, the third and fourth 10 euro commemorative coins designed by Truxa were issued to mark the 125th anniversary of the invention of the automobile and the 150th birthday of Gerhart Hauptmann. In 2015, Truxa won the “2 Euro Saxony” competition. The two euro commemorative coin came into circulation on February 5, 2016. Shortly beforehand, Chancellor Angela Merkel presented the first set of coins to Prime Minister Stanislaw Tillich.
