Holger Seitz (born October 9, 1974 in Simbach am Inn ) is a German soccer coach and former player . In the 2020/21 season he is the head coach of the second team at FC Bayern Munich .
Player career
Holger Seitz, who played for 1. FC Passau in his youth , came to SpVgg Fürth in 1994 from the amateurs of 1. FC Nürnberg , who were playing in the then fourth-class Landesliga Mitte . The Fürth had just qualified for the third-highest division, newly introduced four-track regional league . Seitz had a regular place in Fürth from the beginning and after two years moved within the Regionalliga Süd to the amateurs of Bayern Munich , where he played for four years. From 2000 it was then Karlsruher SC , where he played in the third division. With the KSC, he managed in his first season, the direct return to the second division. So he came to twelve second division appearances in the 2001/02 season .
In 2002 he went back to the 3rd division and signed a contract with SV Darmstadt 98 . With the lilies, Seitz was still on a promotion spot on matchday 10. What followed was a crash in the lower table regions and at the end of the season they were in 17th place in the table, which meant relegation to the Oberliga Hessen . After Darmstadt managed to rise again in the following season, he left the club and went to the Bayern division SC Fürstenfeldbruck . After three years there, Seitz ended his playing career.
Coaching career
From 2006 Holger Seitz worked in the management of SC Fürstenfeldbruck alongside his work as a player. In 2007 he became the team's coach. He held this office until March 1, 2008 - he asked for approval to work as an association sports teacher for the Bavarian Football Association after the association had offered him this position. There he took care of the qualification of prospective trainers. In addition, he also worked in the Bavarian talent promotion program. As assistant coach to Steffen Freund , the German U17 national team reached the Vice European Championship in Serbia in 2011 and won the bronze medal at the U17 World Championship in Mexico in the same year . In front of over 90,000 spectators in the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City, the Brazilian U17 national team was defeated 4: 3 in the game for third place .
For the 2015/16 season , Seitz took over the A-Juniors of FC Bayern Munich . After a disappointing eighth place in his first season, he reached the final of the German A-Junior Championship in the 2016/17 season , which was lost to Borussia Dortmund on penalties . In the 2017/18 season he coached FC Bayern's U17s and reached the final of the German B-Junior Championship , which was lost 3-2 to Borussia Dortmund in his own stadium. A few days earlier he had already started his job as the new coach of the amateur team at FC Bayern, so that he trained two teams in parallel for a period of ten days. With the Bayern amateurs, who played as FC Bayern Munich II in the fourth-tier regional league Bayern , he succeeded Tim Walter , who had switched to the second division Holstein Kiel . In one season of his work with the Bayern amateurs, he reached the championship and promotion to the 3rd division before moving to the management staff of the youth department of FC Bayern in summer 2019.
After Sebastian Hoeneß switched to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , Seitz took over the second team of FC Bayern, which had previously become third division champions, for a year for the 2020/21 season . After the season, he will succeed Hermann Gerland as the sporting director of the FC Bayern Campus .
