Jorge Bava (full name: Jorge Rodrigo Bava ) (born August 2, 1981 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .
Career
society
The first years of the career
Bava, who plays in the position of goalkeeper , began his career with Progreso in 1998 in the Segunda División . In 1999 he moved to Peñarol , but remained there without a commitment. Standing in the ranks of Juventud in 2001 , his path led him to Nacional Montevideo for the first time in 2002 . In the following year, however, he was under contract with Bella Vista and completed 16 games in the Torneo Apertura 2003 of the Primera División for this club . For the Clausura that year he returned to Nacional to guard the gate eleven times in the rest of the season. In the meantime he lost his regular place to Sebastián Viera , but returned after his move in mid-2005 to Villarreal in Tor Nacionals. He remained loyal to the Montevideans up to and including the Apertura 2006, in which he was used eleven times, and was two Uruguayan champions in the 2005 and 2005/06 seasons. In the ranks of the Bolsos , Bava was also used at international level and completed a total of 15 games in the Copa Libertadores competitions in 2004, 2005 and 2006. At the beginning of 2006, however, Bava fell ill with mumps and had subsequently lost his regular place to Alexis Viera .
Change abroad
He then went abroad and joined the reigning Paraguayan champions Club Libertad . There he was able to win another championship with the title in the season of the Primera División of 2007, in which he was used 32 times. Depending on the sources, 31 or 33 league games and twelve Copa Libertadores games followed in 2008 as part of a loan for the Mexican club Atlas Guadalajara , before he played again for the Paraguayan capitals of Club Libertad in 2009 and in 29 games for the opposing strikers in Gate facing Asuncióner. In the Copa Libertadores of 2007, 2009 and 2010 he represented the colors of Club Libertad in 16 matches. A stopover at the Argentine club Rosario Central , where he was loaned by Libertad, which began at the end of January 2010 , was followed by a return to Nacional in 2012 for what is now a third engagement.
Return to Uruguay
In mid-January 2012 he signed with the Montevideans as a replacement for the national goalkeeper Rodrigo Muñoz, who had migrated to Bava's former employer Club Libertad, initially for half a year. Since then, Bava, who celebrated another Uruguayan championship win with the Montevideans in the 2011/12 season, has made five appearances in the Primera División for the Bolsos in 2011/12 and 29 appearances in 2012/13 and made a total of eight Copa Libertadores in both seasons. and four Copa Sudamericana appearances. In the 2013/14 season he was on the pitch 14 times in the league and played three games in the 2014 Copa Libertadores . In the 2014/15 season he was used five times in the Primera División and was again Uruguayan champion with Nacional. In July 2015 he moved to first division promoted Liverpool Montevideo , for whom he played 27 first division games in the 2015/16 season.
In July 2016 he joined Atlético Bucaramanga from Colombia and played there in 21 top division games. On January 7, 2017, his move to Chicago Fire was announced. Bava signed a one-year contract. So far (as of July 15, 2017) he has played eight games in the MLS.
National team
In the U-23 team of the Uruguayan national soccer team , Bava completed an international match under coach Juan Ramón Carrasco when he was used in the 3-0 lost game against Chile's selection on January 7, 2004 at the pre-Olympic South American U-23 qualification tournament .
