Jorge Iván Castaño Rubio CMF (born November 25, 1935 in Montebello ) is auxiliary bishop emeritus of Medellín .

Life

Jorge Iván Castaño Rubio joined the order of the Claretians and was ordained a priest on August 27, 1961 . Pope John Paul II appointed him on June 6, 1983 Vicar Apostolic of Quibdó and Titular Bishop of Edistiana .

The Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia , Angelo Acerbi , ordained him bishop on August 6 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Alfonso Cardinal López Trujillo , Archbishop of Medellín , and Darío Castrillón Hoyos , Bishop of Pereira .

The pope elevated the Apostolic Vicariate for on 30 April 1990 the diocese and thus he became the first bishop of Quibdó. On February 16, 2001, he was appointed auxiliary bishop in Medellín and titular bishop of Stagnum . On November 25, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related resignation.
