Crossroads on the outskirts of Jorgucat

Jorgucat is located in the historical-geographical region of Dropull on the edge of the Drino river valley on the northeast slope of Mali i Gjerë at around 240  m above sea level. A. A small stream runs through the village.

The Albanian-Greek border crossing at Kakavija is about nine kilometers east of the village. The SH4 connects the border crossing with Jorgucat and continues to the northwest to the nearest city of Gjirokastra , about 20 kilometers away , which is the economic center of the area. In Jorgucat the branches SH78 on the SH4, which over the Muzina Pass in the region Saranda leads.

The Albanian Orthodox village church in honor of Saint George (alb. Shën Gjergji ) is located in the upper part of the village and was built in 1932. In 2009 a total of seven icons were stolen there, two from the 18th and five from the 20th century. The icons were brought to the church in 1990 from the (and abandoned) Ilias Monastery above the village for security reasons.

On the outskirts are the ruins of a chamber grave from the 3rd century BC. Chr.
