Joris van Gool (born April 4, 1998 in Tilburg ) is a Dutch athlete who specializes in sprinting .

Athletic career

Joris van Gool gained his first international experience in 2013 when he finished fourth in the 100-meter run in 10.85 s at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Utrecht and with the Dutch 4-by-100-meter relay won the bronze medal in 42.67 s. In 2016 he took part in the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz over 100 meters , but failed there with 10.69 s in the first round. The following year he reached the semi-finals at the U20 European Championships in Grosseto , where he was eliminated with 11.03 s. In 2018 he qualified for the first time for the European Championships in Berlin , where he was eliminated with 10.52 seconds. The following year he won the bronze medal in the 60-meter run at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow in 6.62 seconds behind the Slovaks Ján Volko and Emre Zafer Barnes from Turkey. Then he also won the bronze medal over 100 meters behind the Swedes Henrik Larsson and Oliver Bromby from the United Kingdom at the U23 European Championships in Gävle in 10.27 s , while he did not reach the goal with the relay in the final. With the Dutch relay, he also took part in the World Championships in Doha in late summer , where they were disqualified in the final .

In 2019 and 2020 van Gool became Dutch indoor champion in the 60-meter run.
