José Ignacio Alemany Gray
José Ignacio Alemany Grau CSsR (born January 27, 1934 in Madrid ) is former bishop of Chachapoyas (Peru).
Life
José Ignacio Alemany Gray joined the Congregation of the Redemptorists in and received on 11 January 1959, the priestly ordination . Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Chachapoyas on August 17, 1995 .
The Bishop of Cajamarca , Ángel Francisco Simón Piorno , ordained him episcopal on October 15 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Fortunato Baldelli , Apostolic Nuncio in Peru , and Oscar Rolando Cantuarias Pastor , Archbishop of Piura .
He resigned from his office on May 18, 2000 after protests by the faithful and an attempted occupation of Chachapoyas Cathedral by catechists who did not agree with Alemany Graus' administration.
