José Manuel Sierra Méndez (born May 21, 1978 in Moguer , Huelva Province , Andalusia , Spain ) is a Spanish handball goalkeeper .

Life

Sierra played for the Spanish clubs FC Barcelona , BM Ciudad Real and BM Valladolid , with whom he won numerous titles. In the summer of 2012, he moved to the French first division club Paris Saint-Germain . For the 2014/15 season he moved to the Hungarian club Pick Szeged . From summer 2018 he was under contract with the French club Saran Loiret Handball . For the 2020/21 season he moved to the Spanish first division club Bidasoa Irún .

He became world champion in 2013 with the Spanish national team . The following year he won bronze at the 2014 European Championship . So far he has played 123 international matches , but was mostly overshadowed by David Barrufet and Arpad Sterbik on the national team .
