Josep Maria Guix i Ferreres (born December 19, 1927 in La Coromina , district of Cardona , Catalonia , † June 28, 2009 ) was Bishop of Vic , Catalonia.

Life

Josep Maria Guix studied at the seminaries of Solsona and Barcelona and was ordained a priest on May 31, 1952 . He holds a PhD in theology from the Pontifical University of Comillas and a PhD in social sciences from the Pontifical University of Salamanca . He then completed a degree in psychology at the University of Madrid. At the Instituto Social León XIII de Madrid he was first assistant, later professor and, with the affiliation to the Pontifical University of Salamanca, first dean. He was considered a connoisseur of Catholic social teaching .

Pope Paul VI appointed him titular bishop of Sistroniana in 1968 and appointed him auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Barcelona . He received his episcopal ordination on December 14, 1968, the Apostolic Nuncio in Spain and later Curia Cardinal as well as Chief Justice of the Apostolic Penitentiary Luigi Dadaglio ; Co- consecrators were Marcelo González Martín , Archbishop of Barcelona, ​​and Gregorio Modrego y Casaus , Old Archbishop of Barcelona.

Pope John Paul II appointed him bishop of the 5th century diocese of Vic in 1983 . In June 2003, his age-related resignation was approved; until his successor took office, he worked as an apostolic administrator .

He was particularly committed to the Caritas foundation "Sin cadenas", a facility for the rehabilitation of drug addicts. He was a member and president of the Episcopal Commission for Social Pastoral Care of the Spanish Bishops' Conference and a longstanding member of the “Spanish Social Week”. He was president of the "Paul VI Foundation", based in Madrid.
