José Maria Cavallero (born September 14, 1899 in Mercedes , Uruguay , † May 29, 1963 ) was Bishop of Minas .

Life

José Maria Cavallero received on 7 April 1928, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On July 16, 1952, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Uthina and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Salto . The Apostolic Nuncio in Uruguay, Archbishop Alfredo Pacini , donated him episcopal ordination on October 26th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Montevideo , Antonio María Barbieri OFMCap , and the Bishop of Salto, Alfredo Viola .

On December 20, 1955, Pius XII appointed him. to the first bishop of Melo . Pope John XXIII appointed him on July 9, 1960 as the first bishop of Minas.

José Maria Cavallero attended the first session of the Second Vatican Council .
