Alfredo Pacini

Alfredo Cardinal Pacini (born February 10, 1888 in Capannori , Province of Lucca , Italy , † December 23, 1967 in Rome ) was a Vatican diplomat .

Life

Alfredo Pacini received his philosophical and theological training in the seminary of Lucca . He received on 26 July 1913, the sacrament of Holy Orders , and then worked as a parish pastor and lecturer in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lucca . From 1915 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a chaplain . In 1924 Pope Pius XI awarded him . the title of papal secret chamberlain and appointed him secretary of the apostolic nunciature in Yugoslavia . From 1933 to 1944 Alfredo Pacini worked for the Apostolic Nunciature in Poland , from 1944 to 1946 he was an advisor to the Apostolic Nunciature in France .

In 1946 Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Apostolic Nuncio in Haiti and Santo Domingo as well as Titular Archbishop of Germia . The episcopal ordination received Alfredo Pacini by Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli, the then apostolic nuncio in France and later Pope John XXIII. ; Co- consecrators were Louis Le Hunsec CSSp, titular archbishop of Marcianopolis and superior general of the Spiritans , and Stanislas Courbe , auxiliary bishop in Paris . From 1949 to 1960, Alfredo Pacini represented the Holy See in Uruguay as Apostolic Nuncio ; In 1960 he became nuncio in Switzerland . He attended the Second Vatican Council from 1962 to 1965 . In 1967 Pope Paul VI took it . as a cardinal deacon with the title deaconry Santi Angeli Custodi a Città Giardino in the college of cardinals .

Alfredo Cardinal Pacini died on December 23, 1967 in Rome and was buried in Campannori.
