Alfredo Viola

Alfredo Viola (born March 25, 1893 in Montevideo , Uruguay , † August 11, 1972 ) was Bishop of Salto .

Life

Alfredo Viola received on 22 April 1916, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On July 25, 1936, Pope Pius XI appointed him . the titular bishop of Bitylius and ordered him to Coadjutor Bishop of Salto. The Apostolic Nuncio in Spain , Archbishop Filippo Cortesi , donated him episcopal ordination on August 23 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Montevideo , Juan Francisco Aragone , and the Bishop of Florida-Melo , Miguel Paternain CSsR .

On May 29, 1940 Alfredo Viola became Bishop of Salto, succeeding the late Tomás Gregorio Camacho . Viola resigned as Bishop of Salto on January 1, 1968. Pope Paul VI appointed him titular bishop of Badiae . On November 28, 1970 Alfredo Viola renounced the titular bishopric Badiae.

Alfredo Viola participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
