Filippo Cortesi (born October 8, 1876 in Alia , Province of Palermo , Italy ; † February 1, 1947 ) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop and Vatican diplomat .

Life

Filippo Cortesi received on 18 December 1899, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On May 30, 1921, Pope Benedict XV appointed him . the Titular Archbishop of Siraces and ordered him to apostolic nuncio in Venezuela . The Prefect of the Congregation for Sacred Rites , Antonio Vico , ordained him episcopal on August 21 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the secretary of the Congregation De Propaganda Fide , Curia Archbishop Pietro Fumasoni Biondi , and the emeritus Bishop of Beja , Sebastião Leite de Vasconcellos .

On October 19, 1926 Filippo Cortesi was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Argentina . Pope Pius XI appointed him on June 4, 1936 as Apostolic Nuncio in Spain . On December 24, 1936, Cortesi became apostolic nuncio in Poland .
