José Ubiratan Lopes

José Ubiratan Lopes OFMCap (born September 7, 1947 in Itambacuri ) is a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Itaguaí .

Life

José Ubiratan Lopes joined the religious order of the Capuchins and was ordained a priest on December 28, 1975 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Itaguaí on November 17, 1999 . The episcopal ordination donated him the Archbishop of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro , Eugênio Cardinal de Araújo Sales , on February 20 of the next year; Co- consecrators were Antônio Eliseu Zuqueto OFMCap, Bishop of Teixeira de Freitas-Caravelas , and José Carlos de Lima Vaz SJ , Bishop of Petrópolis . As a motto he chose DEUS É AMOR .
