The diocese Teixeira de Freitas Caravelas ( Latin Dioecesis Taxensis-Carabellensis , Portuguese Diocese de Teixeira de Freitas-Caravelas ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Teixeira de Freitas in the state of Bahia .

history

The diocese Teixeira de Freitas-Caravelas was on July 21, 1962 by Pope John XXIII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Omnium Ecclesiarum from cessions of territory from the Diocese of Ilhéus as the Diocese of Caravelas . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia as a suffragan .

On April 18, 1983, the Caravelas diocese was renamed the Teixeira de Freitas-Caravelas diocese . The diocese of Teixeira de Freitas-Caravelas gave up on June 12, 1996 parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Eunápolis .
