Josef Alois Müller (also: Müller-Landolt , nickname Blech-Sepp ; born April 26, 1871 in Näfels ; † December 12, 1967 there , entitled to live in Näfels) was a Swiss politician (CVP) .

biography

Josef Alois Müller, son of the printer's master Franz Josef Müller (* 1823; † 1904) and Regina née Landolt, a graduate of the Schwyzerisches teachers' college, worked as a secondary teacher and iron merchant in Näfels after dropping out of studies at the universities of Geneva and Zurich .

Josef Alois Müller - he married Anna Louise on April 18, 1898 (born August 3, 1879; † December 26, 1954 in Näfels), daughter of the municipal administrator Anton Landolt - died on December 12, 1967 at the age of 96 in Näfels.

Political career

Josef Alois Müller - he joined the Catholic People's Party - served as councilor of Näfels from 1907 to 1942 , of which he was president from 1910 . In 1918 he was elected to the Glarus district administrator . From 1920 to 1923 he was chief judge. In 1923 he was elected to the government council, of which he was a member until 1945. There he was in charge of the education department. In addition, Mueller held from 1938 to 1942, the Office of the State governor, and from 1942 to 1945 that of Landamman .

At the cantonal level, his commitment was to the school system. Among other things, the canton school in Glarus was opened. At the municipal level, water corrections, power plant extensions and an old people's home came about on his initiative. Josef Alois Müller - he wrote historical writings and stories - was the founder-president of the foundation council for the Freulerpalast in Näfels as well as president of the archive and library commission in Glarus .
