Josef Baumgen

Josef Bäumgen (* 1714 in Düsseldorf ; † 1789 there ), also Johann Bäumchen and Johann Baumgärtgen , was a German sculptor.

He worked as a court sculptor in Saint Petersburg . Lambert Krahe appointed him professor of sculpture at the Electoral Art Academy in Düsseldorf . In 1774 Bäumgen was commissioned to create the four figures The Seasons for the Düsseldorf court garden . In 1977 Bäumgen was commissioned to produce twelve child statues representing the months of the year, a statue of the goddess Hebe and twelve “mythological heads” for the courtyard garden. In 1785, Bäumgen restored the grave of Duke Wilhelm von Jülich-Kleve-Berg in the Lambertus Church in Düsseldorf .
