Josef Bergmann (church painter)
Josef Bergmann (born November 1, 1888 in Amberg ; † September 25, 1952 ) was a German church painter.
Career
Bergmann studied after graduating from the art academies in Weimar and Munich . The deployment in World War I interrupted his professional career. After returning home, he worked as an art teacher at various high schools in Munich. In 1943 he took part in the exhibition Young Art in the German Reich in Vienna organized by Reichsleiter Baldur von Schirach with two works .
He also emerged as a church painter in the southern Bavarian region. At the age of 63 he fell from the scaffolding while painting the church in Dollnstein and succumbed to his injuries.
