Josef Erb
Josef Erb (born January 24, 1921 in Mannheim ; † May 9, 2006 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German football player .
Career
Erb belonged to SV Waldhof Mannheim as a striker , for whom he played points games from 1938 to 1943 in the Gauliga Baden , in one of initially 16, later to 23 Gauligen at the time of National Socialism as the uniform top division in the German Reich .
At the end of his first season he finished fourth with his club out of ten participating teams. In the following season, in which the Gauliga Baden was divided into three groups, he won the championship in the group North Baden and the subsequent final round of the Gaume Championship Baden . His team was able to repeat these two successes in the 1941/42 season . In both championship finals he was also the most accurate goalscorer with 17 and 21 goals respectively . In his last season for his club, both successes came from the city and league rivals VfR Mannheim .
With his team, he also took part in the two finals for the German championship due to the regional championships. In 1939/40 he played all six games in Group 4 , which was also completed first, as well as the semi-final against FC Schalke 04, lost 3-1 on July 14, 1940 in Stuttgart and the two games for third place , the first of which against SK Rapid Wien with the 4-4 draw after extra time did not produce a winner. In the nine games he scored - from the first two group games and the replay for 3rd place, which was lost 2-5 - seven goals. In 1941/42 he failed with SV Waldhof Mannheim in the qualifying round held on May 10, 1942 with 1: 7 at 1. FC Kaiserslautern ; he scored with the hit to the 1-1 draw in the 16th minute, the only goal of his team.
In the cup competition for club teams for the Tschammer Cup, which had been newly created since 1935 , he was used in 14 games in uninterrupted succession from 1939 to 1942, in which he scored 13 goals. In 1939 he contributed six goals in eight games to the finals. The final held on April 28, 1940 in the Berlin Olympic Stadium ended with a 2-0 defeat against 1. FC Nürnberg .
After the end of World War II he played from 1948 to 1950 for SV Saar 05 Saarbrücken in the Saarland Honor League . He coached this club in the 1955/56 season in the Oberliga Südwest .
