Josef Finkenzeller

Josef Finkenzeller (born May 6, 1921 in Zell bei Scheyern ; † June 14, 2018 in Munich ) was a German Roman Catholic priest, theologian ( dogmatist ) and university professor .

Life

After military service and captivity in England and Canada (1941–1946), Josef Finkenzeller passed his Abitur in Freising in 1946. From 1947 to 1951 he studied philosophy and theology at the Philosophical-Theological University of Freising and at the LMU Munich . He earned his doctorate at the LMU in Michael Schmaus to Dr. theol. and on 29 June 1953 in Freising by Joseph Wendel for ordained priests . In 1953 he worked as a chaplain in Munich-Neuhausen and as rector of the monastery of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in Munich, from 1954 to 1959 as prefect, lecturer and subregens at the seminary in Freising. In 1959, he received his habilitation in dogmatics from the theological faculty of the LMU Munich, where he worked as a private lecturer from 1959 . In the same year he was appointed associate professor and, in 1965, full professor for dogmatics at the Philosophical-Theological University of Freising.

In 1965 he took over the task of the reign of the seminary in Freising, and that of a full councilor in the management of the archbishopric. From 1968 he was in Munich after the seminary was moved to Munich and the Philosophical-Theological University Freising Regens closed. As Regens he was responsible for the establishment of the preparatory college "V3" in Munich by the archdiocese.

From 1970 he taught as a full professor for dogmatics and ecumenical theology (at the newly established chair Dogmatics II in 1968) at the LMU Munich. In 1986 he retired , his successor was Gerhard Ludwig Müller .

Finkenzeller had been a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Agilolfia Freising since 1956.

Finkenzeller died on June 14, 2018 in Munich.
