Josef Gradl

Josef Gradl (born March 13, 1921 in Regensburg ; † January 16, 2016 in Wenzenbach ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Gradl first attended elementary school, later the vocational school in Regensburg, at the same time he trained as a locksmith. After passing the journeyman's examination, he performed the labor service. At the beginning of the Second World War he was drafted into the air force, where he was part of the technical staff until he was dismissed as a sergeant in 1945 . He then switched to the state police, from January 1947 he worked for the Regensburg criminal investigation department until he was retired on August 1, 1971 for health reasons. In 1960 he also became chairman of the water supply association for the Wenzenbacher Group. After his retirement he sat on the board of directors of Sparkasse Regensburg .

Gradl was elected to both the local council and the district council for the first time in 1960. In May 1966 he was elected honorary first mayor of the municipality of Wenzenbach , and he also chaired the SPD parliamentary group in the Regensburg district assembly. From 1962 to 1970 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament . Re-election in 1970 failed, but after Max Hößl left in February 1973 he returned to parliament, from which he finally left in 1974.
