Josef Heldmann

Josef Heldmann (born November 8, 1835 in Vilseck , † October 10, 1910 in Amberg ) was a Bavarian lawyer.

Career

Heldmann studied law at the University of Munich and was a member of the Corps Palatia there . For 40 years he served as legal advisor to the Amberg city administration. In 1891 he was elected mayor with legal qualifications for life. The aqueduct, the slaughterhouse and the fire station were built under him. He resigned from this office in 1907.

On the occasion of his retirement he was made an honorary citizen on June 26, 1907 for his services to the city . He had previously been awarded the title of royal court counselor .

Afterlife

The town of Amberg named Heldmannstrasse near Wagrain after the honorary citizen.
