Franz Prechtl

Franz Prechtl (* 17th May 1927 in Amberg ; † 29. July 2018 ) was a German politician of the CSU .

Life

Franz Prechtl attended the humanistic high school in Amberg. From 1943 he had to serve as an air force helper. Then he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service and finally into the Wehrmacht . He returned to Amberg from an English captivity.

In 1947 he passed the Abitur in Amberg. After studying German for higher education in Würzburg and Regensburg, he taught at several Bavarian high schools. Since 1956 he has been teaching German, geography and history at the Max-Reger-Gymnasium in Amberg , most recently as senior teacher .

From 1960 to 1990 he was a member of the city council in Amberg. From 1970 to 1990 Franz Prechtl was Lord Mayor of Amberg. During his term of office, the renovation of the old town and the Amberg city theater, the founding of Stadtbau Amberg GmbH, the pedestrian zone, the introduction of the old town festival, the construction of the underground car park at the train station, the start of the general renovation of the St. Marien Clinic, the new construction of the fire brigade center, the New construction of the Pfalzgrafenbrücke, the construction of the state secondary school, the construction of the sewage treatment plant in Theuern , the expansion of the Erasmus-Gymnasium , the new construction areas Raigeringer Höhe and Obere Hockermühle, the establishment of the city museum in the renovated building stalls, the new construction of the Kurfürstenbad, the application for the state garden show as well as the reason for the old town festival.

Franz Prechtl was involved in numerous social projects and the Christians in the Holy Land . He was a member of the German Association of the Holy Land . In 1985 Franz Prechtl was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Maximilien Cardinal de Fürstenberg and invested in Regensburg Cathedral on May 11, 1985 by Franz Cardinal Hengsbach , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . Prechtl was most recently a Grand Officer of the Papal Lay Order.
