Josef Janning

Josef Janning (born May 2, 1956 in Bocholt ) is a German political scientist.

In 2013, Janning was Mercator Fellow of the Alfred von Oppenheim Center at the German Society for Foreign Policy (DGAP) in Berlin.

From 2011 to 2012 he was Director of Studies at the Brussels think tank European Policy Center (EPC). Between 2001 and 2010, Janning was Senior Director of the Bertelsmann Stiftung's international division ; previously he was deputy director of the Center for Applied Policy Research (CAP) at LMU Munich . Previous positions include research and teaching at the Universities of Mainz and Bonn , visiting professorships at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Chinese People's University in Beijing .

Josef Janning studied political science , international relations , history and German at the Universities of Bonn and Cologne . He holds a BA in Political Science and International Relations from Elmira College ( Elmira, New York ) and an MA from the University of Bonn.
