Josef Loebbert

Josef Löbbert (born May 26, 1916 in Gelsenkirchen ; † February 22, 1996 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school, Löbbert completed an apprenticeship as a glass cutter at the German Libbey Owens Society . He did Reich Labor Service in 1936/37 , served as a soldier in World War II from 1939 to 1945 and was finally taken prisoner. After the end of the war, he worked again as a glass cutter and continued his education with courses at the Volksbildungswerk as well as courses at trade union and adult education centers.

Political party

Löbbert had been a member of the SPD since 1946.

MP

Löbbert had been a councilor for the city of Gelsenkirchen since 1956 and was elected chairman of the SPD parliamentary group there in 1963. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1965 to 1976. In Parliament he represented the constituency Gelsenkirchen I .

Public offices

Löbbert served as Lord Mayor of Gelsenkirchen from 1969 to 1975 .
