Werner Kuhlmann

Werner Kuhlmann (born February 27, 1921 in Gelsenkirchen ; † May 22, 1992 ibid) was a German detective, trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school, Kuhlmann completed an apprenticeship as a landscape gardener , which he completed in 1939 with the assistant test. At first he did Reich Labor Service and from 1940 to 1945 took part in the Second World War as a soldier . In 1945 he joined the police force and worked as a detective. Werner Kuhlmann married Annemarie (* 1922 - † 2016) in 1947 and the couple have two children. He joined the police union (GdP) in 1948 and was national chairman of the union from 1958 to 1975.

Political party

Kuhlmann was a member of the Socialist Youth of Germany from 1931 to 1933 . He joined the SPD in 1945 , was sub-district chairman of the party in Gelsenkirchen from 1975 to 1980 and since 1973 a member of the state executive committee of the SPD North Rhine-Westphalia .

MP

Kuhlmann was a member of the council of the city of Gelsenkirchen from 1969 to 1971 and from 1975 to 1989. He was a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament from 1962 to 1980.

Public offices

Kuhlmann served as Lord Mayor of Gelsenkirchen from 1975 to 1989 .
