Dieter Rauer

Dieter Rauer (born December 2, 1950 in Wunstorf ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1996 to 1999 he was Lord Mayor of the City of Gelsenkirchen .

Life

Dieter Rauer studied economics and social sciences at the Ruhr University Bochum . From 1976 to 1986 he was a teacher at the Eduard-Spranger-Schule in Gelsenkirchen-Buer and from 1986 to 1987 he was director of studies at the vocational school for state subject classes. He then took over the management of the vocational school for business and administration in Gelsenkirchen, which he held until 1998.

Rauer joined the SPD in 1969, became a city councilor in 1975 and was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the Gelsenkirchen council from 1987 to 1996. From 1996 to 1999 he was Lord Mayor of the City of Gelsenkirchen. The 1997 Federal Horticultural Show took place during this period .

During his tenure as Lord Mayor, he was criticized in the media because of the business trips he made to the United States and because of an unauthorized building permit for his private house.

Dieter Rauer has been married since 1981 and has two children.
