Josef Langl

Josef Langl (born March 18, 1843 in Dobrzan ; † May 27, 1916 in Vienna ) was an Austrian painter , sculptor and storyteller .

Life

Langl grew up in Vienna from 1855, where he began studying architecture and architectural painting from 1858 . Langl worked as a drawing teacher between 1870 and 1892 and was then a specialist inspector for drawing lessons in Vienna and Lower Austria until 1915 .

Langl's pictures include a variety of other landscape shots as well as panoramas of Vienna and Dobrzan. The school and government council created book illustrations and designed lithographic templates for the design of schools throughout Austria-Hungary . Langl also worked for the “Zeitschrift für bildende Kunst” and “Die Waage”. The City of Vienna awarded him honorary citizenship for his services .

Langl entered the First World War as a first lieutenant in the reserve . In the autumn of 1914 he was an air observer with the flying companies No. 8, 15 and 5 and flew in the Russian and Serbian theater of war. In December 1915 he was transferred to the technical department of the kuk aviation troops command for health reasons .
