from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Josef Mauder (* 19th March 1884 in Munich , † 1969 in . Pullach Isartal i ), also called "Sepp" was an agent working in Munich illustrator , art painter , writer , poet and footballer .

Live and act

Josef Mauder was a son of Bruno Mauder, head nurse to the Bavarian kings Ludwig II and Otto . His brother was the future craftsman and glass artist Bruno Mauder .

Born in the Sendling district of Munich , Mauder began training as a glass painter together with his brother Bruno . He then attended the Royal School of Applied Arts in Munich with Maximilian Dasio .

He had his first success as an illustrator at the age of 20 with the Art Nouveau children's book Schöne alte Kinderreime. For Mothers and Children , published in 1904.

He was the first to discover the genre of "sports caricature " in German-speaking countries and made it his main field of employment. For decades he drew for the sports magazines “ Fußball ” and “ Sport Magazin ” and was also a caricaturist for the “ Fliegende Blätter ”, the “ Münchner ” and the “Stuttgarter Illustrierte”. Later he also drew for the Munich-based illustrated weekly for art and life " Jugend ". He designed several gingerbread designs for the “Munich 1908” exhibition and created numerous advertising brands for the Hengstenberg company .

After Lothar Meggendorfer , founder of the Meggendorfer-Blätter named after him , for which he drew from 1905 to 1928, he took over the editorial management. Originally he signed with "Jos.M." whereby the letters "J" and "s" merged with one another, later he traded under the abbreviation "im".

When FC Bayern Munich joined the Munich Sport Club as a football department in 1906 and the only condition was to swap the black trousers for their striking wine-red trousers, Mauder created the small, neat painting "Die Rothosen", which is in the adventure world , the association-internal museum, has its permanent place.

From 1926 Josef Mauder lived in Pullach .

Commitment to football

When he was allowed to admire FC Bayern Munich for the first time on the football field with its former Dutch player Willem Hesselink in 1903 , it was all over him. “FC Bayern was already 'the soccer team' for us back then. From this game on I knew where I belonged. I lost my heart to Bayern, ” said Mauder almost 50 years later. He joined the club in the same year, wore its jersey from 1904 to 1906 and was temporarily captain of the second team. He remained loyal to this association as a member until his death in July 1969.
